The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled about 10,750 GBYMIUY Magnetic Stick Figure Toy Sets after determining the toys violate the federal mandatory standard for magnet sets, which limits how small and how strong magnets in children's toys can be.
What was recalled
The sets, imported by Ningbo Jiboyou Trading Co. of China and sold under the brand GBYMIUY, contain 30 multicolored, human-shaped figures, each about 2.91 inches tall and 2.3 inches wide, with magnets embedded in the hands and feet so the figures can link together. They sold on Amazon.com from April through July 2026 for about $20, under model number X004TVHD2Z.
Why loose magnets are so dangerous
CPSC says the figures can shed their small, high-powered magnets, which pose a serious ingestion hazard to young children. If more than one magnet is swallowed, they can attract to each other through the walls of the intestines, potentially causing perforations, twisting, blockage, blood poisoning, and death. Because the symptoms of magnet ingestion (vomiting, abdominal pain) can look like a routine stomach bug, cases are sometimes caught late.
No injuries reported
CPSC says it has not received reports of injury tied to this specific product. The recall is a standards violation, not a response to a known incident.
What to do if you have one
- Take the stick figure sets away from children immediately and stop using them.
- Contact GBYMIUY for a full refund.
- Follow the company's disposal instructions, which require discarding the toy and emailing a photo of the discarded product to zhangfa0426@outlook.com.
High-powered magnet sets have been a recurring target of CPSC recalls and consumer-safety advocacy for more than a decade; this recall is the latest example of a product that reached shoppers despite the existing federal limits.
