The plain-English version
When we recommend a product, we may link to a retailer. If that link is part of an affiliate programme and you make a purchase, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway. That commission is a share of the retailer's margin, not a surcharge on you.
In finance and insurance the same principle applies to leads rather than sales: a provider may pay a fixed fee when a reader opens an account or completes an application. The fee is the same regardless of which provider we place first, and it is never a factor in the ordering.
Where disclosure appears
- A standing disclosure line appears in the site footer on every page.
- Any article containing affiliate links carries a disclosure block directly beneath the byline, above the article body.
- Any article containing affiliate links repeats the disclosure at the point of the recommendation, above the links.
- Commercial modules within articles are labelled and visually separated from editorial text.
- Outbound commercial links carry rel="sponsored nofollow" so search engines can identify them.
Editorial and commercial separation
Commercial partners have no sight of copy before publication, no approval rights, and no ability to request the removal or amendment of a conclusion. Advertising and affiliate enquiries are handled separately from the desks that write reviews and comparisons, and no editorial contributor is compensated on the basis of conversion or revenue.
What affiliate revenue does not do
It does not determine which products are reviewed, which are recommended, what score they receive, or the order in which they appear. Editors making those decisions do not work from commission data. Products with no affiliate programme at all are recommended on exactly the same terms as products with one.
Current status
THRYV is in active build-out. Affiliate programmes are being established rather than live across the site, and product picks currently shown are structural placeholders marked as not yet tested. We will not publish a live commercial link against a product we have not assessed.
