The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced recalls of two more adult portable bed rail brands on October 1, both for violating the mandatory federal safety standard meant to keep users from becoming trapped between the rail and the mattress, a hazard that can lead to death by asphyxiation.

What was recalled

  • YunHeng LLC's LandTale bed rails: about 730 units, sold on Amazon from February through June 2026 for around $43. The white-framed, foam-gripped rails lack the hazard warning labels required by federal rule, and CPSC says users can get trapped within the rail or between the rail and the mattress.
  • Agrish Direct's adult portable bed rails (models 12014, AG-12011, and 12016): a recall first issued in January 2026 for about 5,000 units has now been expanded to roughly 35,083 units, sold on Amazon from April 2025 through May 2026 for $50 to $80. Beyond the entrapment risk, CPSC cites structural instability and undersized push pins that can cause lacerations. One fall involving model AG-12011 has been reported.

Why this keeps happening

Adult portable bed rails, the kind that clip onto a mattress to help someone get in or out of bed, or prevent a fall, are covered by a federal mandatory standard specifically because gaps between the rail and the mattress have caused entrapment deaths in the past, especially among older adults and people with mobility or cognitive impairments. Neither the YunHeng nor the Agrish units met that standard, according to CPSC.

No deaths reported in either recall

CPSC says no injuries have been reported in connection with the LandTale rails, and only the single fall tied to Agrish's AG-12011 model. Both companies say they are acting to meet the mandatory standard.

What to do if you own one

  • LandTale (YunHeng): Stop using the rails immediately. Contact YunHeng at LandtaleBedRailsRecall@outlook.com for a full refund; the company requires destroying the product (cutting the foam grip, disassembling it, and marking it RECALLED in permanent marker) and emailing photos of the destroyed unit before disposal.
  • Agrish: Stop using the recalled models immediately and request a full refund at agrish.online/recall or agrish.us@outlook.com.

If you're shopping for a bed rail for an aging or mobility-impaired family member, CPSC's own recall notices are a reasonable way to check a brand's history before you buy, this is now at least the second expansion of the Agrish recall since January.
