Primary sourcing
Claims are sourced to the original document — a regulator filing, an official statistical release, a company's own disclosure, a peer-reviewed paper, or our own testing — and linked. Where another publication is the origin of a fact, we credit and link that publication rather than absorbing the fact as our own reporting.
Before publication
- Every figure in a draft is checked against the linked source by someone other than the writer.
- Dates, units, currencies and percentage-versus-percentage-point distinctions are checked explicitly, because these are where errors concentrate.
- Any claim that cannot be sourced is cut, not softened with hedging language.
- Quotes are used only where we hold the original recording, transcript or published statement. We do not paraphrase into quotation marks and we never invent a quote.
Statistics
We prefer to link a live official release rather than print a number that will be stale within weeks. Where a figure is printed, it carries its date and source. We do not round in a direction that flatters an argument, and we do not present a single data point as a trend.
AI tooling
Language tools may be used for research assistance, structuring and copy-editing support. They are never a source. No claim enters a THRYV article on the authority of a model, and every published fact is verified against a human-checkable primary document by an editor.
