The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled about 2,140 ONTHEWEI-brand baby bath seats sold exclusively on Amazon, saying the seats are unstable and can tip over during use, creating a risk of serious injury or death from drowning. The agency says the product violates the federal mandatory safety standard for infant bath seats. No injuries have been reported.
What's being recalled
- Brand: ONTHEWEI, imported by Hubei Youhong Trading Co., Ltd. of China
- Colors: gray, pink, blue and mist green seats with detachable restraint arms and suction cups on the underside
- Identifying marks: "Model No: MY002" and a manufacture date of "2026/1/10" printed on a back label
- Sold on Amazon.com in April 2026 for $40 to $50
- About 2,140 units are affected
Why it was recalled
CPSC testing found the seats fail to meet the mandatory federal standard for infant bath seats, which is designed to keep the seats stable enough that a baby can't tip forward, backward or sideways into the water. The agency says the ONTHEWEI seats can tip over during normal use, which could let an infant slip underwater before a caregiver can react. CPSC has not received any reports of injuries connected to the product.
What to do if you have one
- Stop using the bath seat immediately.
- Write "RECALLED" on the front of the seat in permanent marker.
- Remove the back rest and arm restraints and cut off the three suction cups.
- Email a photo of the destroyed seat to onthewei@outlook.com.
- Once the photo is confirmed, the company will issue a full refund.
Not the first this year
ONTHEWEI's recall is at least the second infant bath seat CPSC has pulled from the market in 2026 for an identical violation: Trankerloop-branded bath seats were recalled in February for the same tip-over, drowning hazard. The agency's advice to parents is consistent regardless of brand: a bath seat is never a substitute for keeping a hand on an infant in the tub at all times.
Consumers with questions can contact ONTHEWEI by email at onthewei@outlook.com. The recall was announced October 8, 2026, under CPSC Recall No. 27-018.
