Goal Zero has recalled about 46,200 Yeti 3000X portable power stations, worth roughly $3,000 each, after the CPSC said four devices caught fire, overheated or smoked due to a circuit board defect. No injuries were reported. Goal Zero is offering a free firmware update to fix the issue.
Goal Zero has recalled about 46,200 Yeti 3000X portable power stations after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the units' circuit boards can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. The recall was announced August 20.
According to the CPSC, Goal Zero has received four reports of the power stations catching fire, overheating or smoking. No injuries have been reported in connection with the issue.
The recall covers Goal Zero Yeti 3000X Portable Power Stations sold between May 2020 and August 2025 at REI stores nationwide and online at Costco.com, Backcountry.com and Goalzero.com. The devices retailed for about $3,000.
The CPSC says owners should stop using the power station immediately. Goal Zero is offering a free firmware update through its mobile app, or free installation assistance for owners who cannot complete the update themselves. Affected consumers can reach Goal Zero at 888-794-6250 (weekdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mountain time), by email at support@goalzero.com, or through recallsupport.goalzero.com.
