General Motors is recalling select 2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ and Escalade IQL electric SUVs, along with certain Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV pickups, after finding that an internal component inside the high-voltage battery pack may not be fully secured during assembly. GM says the loose component could shift and damage battery cells, increasing fire risk, according to the recall filing reported by GM Authority on August 7.
What's affected
The recall covers 2026 model-year Escalade IQ and Escalade IQL units built with the flawed battery module, plus related Ultium-platform EVs from Chevrolet and GMC that share the same battery hardware. The recall is filed under NHTSA campaign number N262562600, per GM Authority's reporting.
The high-voltage batteries in these vehicles may have an internal module component that is not fully secured in place.
