What GM is doing about it

GM says it will replace the complete high-voltage battery pack in affected vehicles at no cost to owners. Dealers have been instructed to hold all unsold affected inventory and are barred from selling those vehicles until the repair is completed by technicians with required EV service training.

What owners should do

Owners of 2026 Escalade IQ, Escalade IQL, Silverado EV or Sierra EV models should watch for a recall notice from GM and can contact their dealer to check whether their specific VIN is affected. GM has not advised owners to stop driving affected vehicles, but a replacement should be scheduled promptly once a notice arrives.
