A work laptop is a three-year purchase, so we weight the things that decay: battery health, hinge and keyboard durability, spare-part availability and how much the manufacturer charges for a replacement screen. Benchmarks matter, but only where they change what the machine can do on a normal working day.

The MacBook Pro 14 wins on endurance and screen quality and is the safest buy if budget allows. If you keep hardware for five years or run your own repairs, the Framework 13 is the cheaper machine by the end of its life, and the ThinkPad X1 Carbon remains the one to type on all day.
