Early access and sign-up perks

Target Circle 360 members — the retailer's paid membership tier — get first access to deals starting October 5, a day ahead of the general public. Target Circle membership itself is free and can be joined online, in the Target app, or in-store. Shoppers who sign up for a free Circle account between September 27 and October 5 will receive 15% off their first purchase.

Why now

Sarah Travis, Target's executive vice president and chief digital and revenue officer, said the timing is meant to meet shoppers as they "swap summer wardrobes for cozy layers, refresh their homes for fall and start checking gifts off their holiday shopping lists."

The event lands about a month before Black Friday and roughly overlaps with similar October sales already announced by other major retailers, giving early holiday shoppers another window to compare prices before the traditional Black Friday and Cyber Monday rush.
