What the defect does

The recall centers on the Radio Frequency Hub module, whose software can lose the reference tire pressures it needs to detect and alert drivers to a significantly under-inflated tire. That means the dashboard warning light may fail to illuminate even when a tire is dangerously low, which Stellantis says could leave the vehicles out of compliance with federal tire pressure monitoring standards.

How to check if your Jeep is affected

Enter your vehicle's VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls and reference campaign number 26V559, or contact a Jeep dealership to schedule the free software reprogram.

What owners should do

No crashes or injuries have been linked to the defect. Owners don't need to stop driving their vehicles, but Stellantis and NHTSA recommend scheduling the free dealership repair and, in the meantime, manually checking tire pressure periodically since the automatic warning system may not be reliable.
