The takeaway

Costco's fiscal 2026 closed with $297.2 billion in annual sales, up 10.1% from the prior year, and $9.23 billion in net income, the company reported September 24. Fourth-quarter comparable sales rose 9.4% (6.7% adjusted for gas and currency swings), helped in part by a one-time tariff-refund benefit, while full-year membership fee revenue climbed to $5.9 billion.

Costco Wholesale reported fourth-quarter and full fiscal-year 2026 results on September 24, closing out the year with $297.2 billion in net sales, up 10.1% from fiscal 2025, and net income of $9.23 billion, or $20.76 per diluted share.

Fourth-quarter numbers

  • Net sales of $93.9 billion for the 16 weeks ended August 30, 2026, up 11.2% year over year
  • Net income of $2.998 billion, or $6.75 per diluted share
  • Comparable sales up 9.4% company-wide, or 6.7% excluding gasoline-price and currency effects
  • Membership fee revenue of $1.85 billion for the quarter

Full fiscal-year totals

  • Net sales of $297.2 billion for the 52 weeks ended August 30, 2026
  • Net income of $9.226 billion, or $20.76 per diluted share
  • Comparable sales up 8.4% company-wide, or 6.6% adjusted
  • Membership fee revenue of $5.907 billion for the year
  • 939 warehouses in operation globally

What's driving the growth

Costco pointed to strong digital sales, with digitally-enabled comparable sales up 19.5% in the fourth quarter and 20.9% for the full year. Regionally, U.S. comparable sales rose 10.7% (7.2% adjusted) in the quarter, ahead of Canada's 5.0% and other international markets' 7.0%.

A one-time boost

Costco noted that fourth-quarter results included a non-recurring benefit of $0.15 per share from tariff refunds — a reminder that not all of the quarter's earnings strength reflects ongoing operations.

What it means for members

Costco's press release did not announce any change to membership fees. With membership fee revenue and warehouse counts both climbing, the results suggest steady demand for the company's bulk-buying model even as shoppers elsewhere pull back on discretionary spending.
